On peut officiellement qualifier le retour de Xavier Dolan à Cannes de triomphal!
Le nouveau long métrage du cinéaste québécois, Matthias et Maxime, était projeté aujourd'hui au prestigieux festival. Résultat : la foule lui a offert une ovation de 8 minutes à la fin de la présentation!
Après avoir essuyé ses larmes de bonheur, Xavier Dolan a déclaré qu'il ne pouvait parler longuement car il était trop ému. Celui qui a écrit et réalisé Matthias et Maxime en plus d'y tenir le rôle principal a ajouté ceci :
« Ça a fait quand même dix ans que je suis débarqué à Cannes avec J’ai tué ma mère. Ça a été tellement enrichissant avec des rencontres et des moments comme celui-ci. »

Avant la projection, le cinéaste de 30 ans a foulé le tapis rouge avec la productrice Nancy Grant et ceux qui l'accompagnent dans son film : Pier-Luc Funk, Antoine Pilon, Catherine Brunet, Gabriel D'Almeida Freitas, Samuel Gauthier et Adib Alkhalidey.

Voici le synopsis officiel :
Deux amis d’enfance s’embrassent pour les besoins d’un court métrage amateur. Suite à ce baiser d’apparence anodine, un doute récurrent s’installe, confrontant les deux garçons à leurs préférences, bouleversant l’équilibre de leur cercle social et, bientôt, leurs existences.
Ce long métrage devrait prendre l'affiche plus tard cette année dans les cinémas du Québec.
